Atlantic Salmon Leaders: Tied Or Tapered
Posted by fliesandfinsnorth on Tuesday, November 14 @ 17:08:27 PST
The leaders that are the most popular are the hand tied leaders as they turn the larger flies over much easier than tapered leaders. They can be compicated to tie but will save you time on the water as you just keep adding tippet and one leader can last a week even with numerous fly changes. So they last longer and perform better with big Salmon flies.
You won't see tied leaders in most flie shops, at least not often.
You can buy the leader kit and tie your own or get an experienced friend, guide outfitter, etc, to tie some up for you.
