Spey Casting for Atlantics: Depends On Water
Posted by fliesandfinsnorth on Tuesday, November 14 @ 17:20:36 PST
There are a lot of people using Spey Rods for Atlantic Salmon fishing. I have seen and fished with some older flie fisherman using 14 and 15 foot two handed rods for Atlantic Salmonfishing. The big rods are great on wide rivers with plenty of current to load your rod. When you have no current you have no swing and at the end of the day no fish.
Here is the simple solution on using the big rods.
Be sure the river or the section of river your fishing has the potential for succes. That is wide water to cover and enough current to load your rod for the casts, if not get your single handed rod out and catch fish.
