Gaspe Atlantic Salmon: Spring Flies

Spring fishing usually implies High warter Fly patterns but you should also have a small variety of small sizes of the same patterns you would use in Spring. Shrimp like patterns such as the General Practitioner and Al's Shrimp are a must in shalow water sizes and high water sizes. Shallow water sizes are 10, 12 & 8 and often come double hooked. This helps the smaller fly run a little truer and below the surface. The larger Flies for Gaspe would be 2,4 and 6.
Some of the flies you will want Are:
Green Macine, a variety of Bombers in Green, White, Yellow and Brown.
Puppa Smurf, which is Blue usually with a red tag at the bend in the hook.
Blue Charm, Undertaker, Black Bear Green Butt. Hairy Mary, Jock Scott, Green Highlander,Gray Wolf, Royal Wolf and White wolf. Lady Amherst,Blue Rat, Silver Rat, Black Cooeboom, Black Dose, Muddler Minnow, Rusty Rat, Blue Charm, Gray Ghost, Mickey Finn. These flies plus the local flies in a combination of the above sizes will give you more than enough floating and wet flies for Gaspe.

Congratulations on your new involvement. It's nice that a guy with such extensive "life experience" is now competing with the young bucks and representing some of us old guys! Best of luck!
