Fly Fishing Canada: Wet Fly Fishing
Posted by fliesandfinsnorth on Wednesday, November 29 @ 11:01:39 PST
The fishing of Streamers and Bucktails in Summer or Fall can change your luck quickly. When casting through a pool and the lack of movement or abillity to just get a fish to look, it's time to change from the more usual patterns to wet fly's. Fish have been caught in your pool but the bite has suddenly shut off. The varied and brighter colors may be the difference you need for that Bright fish to take. Actually, Fall water, high water, Tea Stained water or low water, Switching to a Streamer or Bucktail can make a slow day a great day.
After a pod of fish have been looking at the usual patterns for long periods of time they will stop taking and more than once I have saved my day by tying on a 2, 4, or 3X longStreamer. Under poor water conditions they will usually outfish the more common patterns.
