Canada Fly Fishing: When Is The Best Time To Go
Posted by jeremy on Sunday, December 03 @ 05:51:00 PST
I am thinking of making my first atlantic salmon trip in 2007. I was wondering what you would recommend for which region of canada i would choose? Also, I would like to have the opportunity to fly fish for Atlantic Salmon with the possibility of catching other species such as Brook Trout or Sea Run Brown Trout.
I understand that Atlantic Salmon are a fish of 1,000 casts and I am more than willing to put in that kind of time, but it would be a nice option to have to fish for other trout or salmon species inbetween the 1,000+ casts.

Re: Canada Fly Fishing: When Is The Best Time To Go by greg on Sunday, December 03 @ 07:13:50 PST | | The season starts June 1 but for Spring I have had good luck the 15th or after. My personal best time has been Fall but that is for me and others wouldn't miss the Spring runs. Quebec's season ends in September but Nova Scotia goes until Oct. 31. I like fishing the last 10 days of Cape Breton's Margaree river. |

I would fish the York and Dartmouth hands down. We are doing a split trip this year 4 days on the York and Dartmoth and 4 days on the Trinite' river for atlantics and sea run brookies. Make sure when you fish you try different methods other than swinging and drys and I am positive you will catch fish in less than a thousand casts.
