Quebec Fly Fishing: Sea Run Brookies
Posted by MANITOU on Wednesday, December 20 @ 08:37:06 PST
Quebec Sea run Brookies are very wary trout compared to regular brook trout
Easily spooked, you need a light leader and tippet material. My set up is quite simple, I will start with my rod choice, I prefer long rods so my GAtti FR 107 3PA (10 Foot #7) is my prefered rod choice, the longer rod is better for nynphing and to get the line above the river side brush when casting. My leader choice is quite standard maxima 4 pound test with a 2 pound test
tippet.I prefer slow sink or a intermediate fly line because we rarely get big sea run on dry flies so fishing deeper is a better choice if you want big trout.
I prefer small nymphs and streamers than regular wet flies. Remember if using a sinking line and nymph set up keep thCat tip up high. Be very attentive at the last moment of the swing, especialy after the swing when you start slow stripping the fly this is when they usualy hit.
